どちらも初版・再版、さらにはラベル色違いにブート…とLP盤の世界は妖しく蠢いています。うかつに手を出せませんねぇ。

50年にCentral High Schoolの生徒たちがデトロイトで結成した。地元のFortuneのオーディションを受けて入社する。54年にAdios my desert loveでデビューした。この曲はThe Matadors（William 'Smokey' Robinson・Warren 'Pete' Moore・Ronnie White・Bobby Rogers・Emerson Rogersがメンバー・のちにThe Miraclesとなる）がカバーしている。同年のThe wind（60年にThe Jestersがカバーする）のリリース後、Juan Gutierez・Quentin Edbanksが抜け、George Scott（ベース）・Jim Strong（テナー・Nolan Strongの弟・32～80）が加入した。58年にNorlan Strongは兵役で一時グループを離れたが翌年に復帰しI am with you（The Dominoesのカバー・51年・Federal）が復帰第一作となるが、すぐにグループを去っている。63年にNorlan Strong は自身のThe Diablosを結成した。メンバーは、Nolan Strong・Bob Calhoun（テナー）・Cy Iverson（テナー）・Willie Hunter（バリトン）・J. W. Johnson（ベース・The Five MonarchsやThe Four Sonicsに在籍）の５人で、FortuneからVillage of love（Ｂ面はReal true love）をリリースする。これはのちに同じFortune-563として再発されるが、Village of love（Ｂ面はI want a woman）とＢ面が差し換えられている。翌64年にはグループをThe Velvet Angelsと改名し、MedievelやCo-Opからシングルをリリースした。
