こちらは2014年にCD二枚組の限定販売（そういうのほんとやめてほしいんですけど）でリリースされました。昔からソウルファンにはとっても馴染みのあるジャケットですが、オリジナルは桜井ユタカ氏の選曲による日本のみの販売となったオムニバス盤で1972年10月にリリースされました。続編が74年のAtlanticシリーズとして二枚（ボリューム2と3）制作されています。最初のものと続編はジャケットも全然異なっているのでシリーズものという印象はありませんでした。で、こちらはそれから42年（!!）の時を経て内容を（結構）変えて全46曲というLP盤3枚よりもかなり多い収録と内容ということです。また本作のリリースまでの流れや想いなどが解説に詳しく書かれており胸に響きました、お持ちの方はもう一度読み返してみてはいかがでしょう。旧シリーズを全部持ってる人にはダブリ曲もあるのですが、やっぱりこちら買ってもいいんじゃないでしょうか。ジャケットはシングル盤サイズで紙仕様と凝っています。この頃のAtlanticのソウルって、アーティストも曲もやっぱりいいですよねぇ。
