Billy ButlerはThe ImpressionsのJerry Butlerの弟。Errol Batesの兄弟Jerry BatesものちにThe Chantersに参加している。最初のレコーディングののちにJohn Jordan・Alton Howellがグループを去り、Billu Butler and The Enchantersというトリオとして再出発をしたが、Garnet Mimms and The Enchantersというグループの存在を知り、Billy Butler and The Chantersと改名した。
