為学日益、為道日損。 損之損又損、以至於無為。 学を為せば日に益し、道を為せば日に損す。 之を損し又た損して、以て無為に至る。  『老子』 第48章     He who devotes himself to learning  ( seeks )  from day to day increase ( his knowledge );   he who devotes himself to the Tao ( seeks )   from day to day diminish ( his doing ).  He diminishes it and again diminishes it, till he arrive at doing nothing ( on purpose ).
