1977 de Graaff (NL) (data by CKL*)
Lax bush, Single
Machu Picchu is one of the fuchsias I like best.
Early-flowering and relatively heat-resistant, this vigorous lax bush provides
a long flowering season and produces small to medium-sized flowers profusely.
The flower consists of a waxy white or light salmon orange tube, salmon
orange sepals tinged with green at the tip, and a salmon orange corolla.
Foliage is light green and fairly large.
It is suitable both for growing as a bush and basket. I'm growing as a
bush. It requires frequent pinching to make a well-shaped plant.
The Checklist of Species, Hybrids and Cultivars of the Genus Fuchsia by L. Boulemmier says "awarded best basket at Dutch Fuchsia Show,
1978. Entered in the B.F.S. London Seedling Class 1978, but Floral Committee
considered it to be too similar to Coachman and Tangerine."
