Many foreign tourists come to Nara to see Great Buddha statue and tame deer, and go home without visiting the interesting historic "old town" district called Nara-machi. They don't know what they've missed!

In Naramachi you will experience the atmosphere of old times created by old "machiya" (historic merchant townhouses) and small alleys full of interesting sights. Unfortunately this area is not easy for foreign tourists to explore by themselves. You need someone who knows the area well with the knowledge of Japanese customs and tradition.

In order to help those who want to explore this historic area inside out, Naramachi Walker, a three-hour guided walking tour, is organized. With an experienced professional guide you will visit the places which tourists often miss.

The tour ends in the vicinity of Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Shrine around 12:30 so that you can walk to these major spots of interest in Nara after the tour. By including this tour in your plan, you can enjoy a whole day in Nara.

How to join	No reservation is required. 　Just come to the meeting place below. 　The tour starts at 10:00 sharp, so please be on time.
Where to meet	In front of the tourist information center 　on the ground floor of Kintetsu Nara Station by 9:55 　(Click here for the map.)
Tour fee	2000 yen per person, in cash only. Children under 15 go free. 　(Everything is included in the fee. No extra charges.)
