1962 raiser unknown (UK) (data by CKL*)
Bush, Single
Billy Green is a very vigorous grower, producing 4 - 5 cm long salmon pink
flowers profusely. It also raises many shoots from the base.
The Checklist of Species, Hybrids and Cultivars of the Genus Fuchsia says that "(Billy Green was) Raised in Surrey by unknown raiser and introduced by Bernard Rawlins"
1) (Surrey appears in Harry Potter series. He lives in a fictional town in Surrey
with his aunt's family).
The book also says "(It is) F3 hybrid with
F. triphylla Andenken an Heinrich Henkel and Leverkusen blood."
Billy Green is relatively heat-tolerant. It also kept its lower leaves
better than other triphylla hybrids. Spring cuttings reaches a considerable
size in autumn, raises many flower buds in October and keeps on flowering
through to December.
