guest house AN is located fifteen minutes on foot to the local supermarket, 24-hour convenience store, and a reasonably priced family restaurant and take-out shops. In addition, a public bath with some kinds of facilities : a sauna, a jacuzzi, and so on is located nearby.
A short 15 minute walk from our guest house is the shore of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan.
Along the lake is a 6 kilometer running/walking course from which you can see Mt. Hiei,
the Hira mountains and Mt. Mikami which is often referred to as the"Ohmi Fuji" In addition to beautiful scenery,
Otsu is home to many wonderful temples including
Ishiyamadera,
the site at which Murasaki Shikibu is said to have composed the "Tale of Genji," Miidera temple has one of the famous three bells in Japan having a good sounds, which is well renowned throughout Japanese history, and Mt.Hiei's Enryakuji, a World Heritage site.
Each of these temples has many wonderful Buddhist images
and other artistic treasures.
And then, this town is an important point for Major
Trunk Road since ancient times.
