ロサンゼルスの地元高校生らが結成。メンバーは、地元のヴァーノン通りにあるレコード店のオーナーに気に入られ、Counting my teardrops をレコーディングする。彼等の2枚目となる Stranded in the jungle は、Flash からリリースされた。不幸な事にカバーバージョンが The Cadets によってリリースされ、The Jayhawks をしのいだ。続く Love train、Johnny's house party も話題にならなかった。60年には、Carver Bunkum がグループを去り、Don Bradley（37.〜）・Richard Owens が加入している。グループ名も The Vibrations と改名した。61年に The watusi が第25位に、64年には My girl Sloopy が第26位にチャートインしている。ちなみにこの曲は The McCoy's が Hang on Sloopy と改題してヒットさせている。また61年に、The Marthons 名義で、Peanut butter のレコーディングも行っている。 |
