　アメリカ中西部を活動領域とするオファット空軍基地のバンドが、ビッグ・バンドの楽しさを凝縮したような超御機嫌なプレイで聴かせるホットなアルバム。オープナーの「Before You Left」は、当バンドのお気に入りアレンジャー、Tom Kubisが、１９３０年代のベニー・グッドマンで有名になった「After You've Gone」をベースに、モダンな感覚移入を図ったとてもエネルギッシュなチャートです。このオーケストラのコンセプトが良く出ています。ディジー・ガレスピーのビ・バップ・クラシック「Salt Peanuts」や、カウント・ベイシー楽団のトロンボーン奏者であったアル・グレイの「The More I See You」。そして「Opus One」ではサミー・ネスティコもアレンジを提供しています。「Big Al Meets the Barnyard Gals」は、何処かで聴いたような・・・、アレアレ、此れって「In A Mellow Tone」では？！アレンジャーのユーモアが伝わってくるなど、スイング・スタイルをベースに今日的要素を加味して、ビッグ・バンド本来の自然に腰が動くスイング感、楽しさをたっぷりと味わえるアレンジメントで一杯です。トランペットのVito Speranzaが「Zamba」で、燃えるようなソロを聴かせたりと、流石ジャズの国アメリカ、層の厚さに驚きます。
