　歴史的な「スピリチュアル・トゥ・スイング」は、ジョン・ハモンドの企画で１９３８年及び'３９年に行なわれましたが、約３０年ぶりの１９６７年に同じカーネギー・ホールで第三回コンサートが催され、その模様を収録したのがこのアルバムです。
　圧巻は、何と言ってもジョー・ターナーで「I'm Going Away to Wear You Off My Mind」と「Blues for John」を堂々とした躍動的なヴォーカルで魅了します。Edmond Hall、Buck Clayton、Jo Jones、そしてベイシーらによる中間派コンボの熱演に会場は沸立ちます。トリのベイシー楽団は、ダイナミックにジャンプ。再び登場したジョー・ターナーは、ベイシー・バンドをバックに｢Roll 'em Pete」を、驚くべき見事なシャウトで圧倒します。このスイング感こそベイシー楽団の真髄、楽しくて身体が勝手に動いてしまいます。
