　スイング・バンド史上、最高の人気を誇ったバンド・リーダーはトロンボーン奏者のグレン・ミラーでした。統制の取れた編曲を好み、歌を多く取り入れ、クラリネットがリードするサックス・セクションの甘美な音色でスイングを大衆化しました。「イン・ザ・ムード」「茶色の小瓶」「真珠の首飾り」は、この時代の代名詞です。しかしミラーは、堅実なあまり努力をせずに安全な範囲に甘んじたが為に、創造的でなく退屈に聴こえてくる側面も持っていました。とは言えロマンチックなサウンドは、今日もなお根強い人気があります。
　このアルバムは、ボブ・ミンツアー・ビッグ・バンドのアルバムでも知られている｢ＤＭＰ｣が、グレン・ミラーの作品を録音する為に臨時編成したビッグ・バンドによって、現代のテクノロジーを駆使した２０ビット収録で、ミラー・サウンドの楽しさを見事に再現した好感の持てる一枚です。
