　このアルバムのタッド・ダメロンといえば、大方はガレスピーのバップ・バンドのスコアを思い起こされるでしょう。当ＨＰでも紹介の「Groovin Hight」に収録されている「アワ・デライト」は、正に古典的名作として知られています。
　バップ時代に理論的な黒人編曲者として名を馳せたダメロンは、ガレスピーのバップ・バンドに多くのスコアを提供する一方で、自身でも６～１０人編成の小型バンドを組織してアレンジ重視の整然とした合奏効果で清新的な豊かなグループ表現を演出、近代性を感じさせました。その辺りの模様は、Prestigeの「クリフォード・ブラウン・メモリアル」や「フォンテーヌブロー」で聴くことができますが、１９６２年に１４人編成で当時の作品を吹き込み直したのがこのアルバムです。ビル・エヴァンス以下スター・プレイヤーを集め、まさに有終の美を飾ったジャズ界を代表する作・編曲家ダメロン生涯の集大成的アルバムです。
