Eco-efficiency


The Business Council for Sustainable Development
first investedthis coined word.

The purposeof eco-efficency is
to be consistent with that of sustainablitiy;
however,
since it is not comprehensive,
it may be considered
as a steppingstone towards sustainability.

The following seven eco-efficiency guidelines are commontly adopted:
1.to reduce the material intensity of goods and services;
2.to reduce the energy intensity of goods and srvices;
3.to reduce toxic dispersion;
4.to enhance material recyclability;
5.to maximise sustainable use of renewable resources;
6.to extend product durability; and
7.to increase value added by intensifying service of goods and services.
